An awful lot has happened since Princess Half Marathon back in February… let’s take a short trip down memory lane.
So… my birthday was on a Sunday in March this year. And two days prior, my contract at a really great company ended. Despite my best efforts in finding a new job, I found myself unemployed for my 32nd birthday. I was feeling… pretty shitty. But my friends and family rallied and made my birthday pretty nice.
Specifically, my bestie’s husband was kind enough to pay my entry fee for Craicfest, a St. Patty’s Day-themed 5K in Cambridge. It had an after party in the Galleria Mall parking garage… and let’s just say… free flowing hard cider + being fucking COLD (it was like 9 degrees, even in the underground garage) meant that I drank way more than I normally would and may have been caught dancing and party-fouling all over the place in some video from the event (see if you can spot me).
All in all, it wasn’t my fastest race… my hammie was still bugging me from a few weeks prior, so I had to take it easy. But it was so much fun! My bestie’s husband had never run a road race before, but I think he enjoyed it, because he went and did another one a few weeks later (ah-HAH! Someone has caught the bug!). I wore a sash that said Birthday Girl and got tons of birthday wishes from volunteers and runners… it felt nice.
Someone failed to tell the chick in the mittens that flashing peace signs in mittens doesn’t really translate well. HAH!
After the race and excessive drinking, we met up with my bestie to have brunch. Our server was lovely and brought out dessert with a candle in it and sang to me, all alone, and it was the sweetest thing… if the expression on my face was any indication:
I guess I can’t close this post out without letting you know that Monday morning I had an interview at a non-profit close to where I live, and then we had an epic snow storm on Tuesday, and Wednesday I went in again to interview for a different role… by Friday, I had a new job and I started the following Monday.
I had filed my unemployment paperwork, and didn’t even use the benefit because I was only unemployed for one week. It’s funny how the universe works.
