When our SRTT admin tells us to wear tutus for a local race, oh boy… we deliver.
The first annual TI Running/CGI Hunger is the Pitts 5k was June 10th, and honestly… it was the most fun I’ve had at a 5k. Ever.
I wore a tutu.
I ran with a friend and chatted the whole time (it was nice not to be alone on the course).
The after party and swag were AMAZING.
TI Running was generous enough to offer a registration discount for SRTT members, plus a VIP table, and extra swag. (I love me some swag!) PLUS… unlimited drinks at the bar.
The race itself was local (Auburn, NH) and mostly on the rail trail near Lake Massabesic. It was narrow, so it was difficult to run next to someone once the pack runners turned around and started running back. But it was shady there on a toasty day, so we dealt with it.
Hunger is the Pitts 5k is the first of a three-race series which is raising money for the NH Food Bank. (One of the things I love about TI Running is that all of their races support some sort of local charity.)
So yeah… amazing 5k! It was fun to see all of the tutus out there and recognize the runner as a member of SRTT. The after party was super fun. All in all, it was a great time, and I can’t wait to run the Donation Dash 5k in July!
Our team “uniform” will be a white shirt with some sort of silly nickname on it, provided by a fellow member of the group. So far, my nickname is “Kickin’ Asphalt.” I’m secretly hoping that it will change to involve “cowbell” or “bullhorn” (I guess it’s not a secret anymore).
